I've found that a lot of people here in the U.S. don't know much about their own country,
much less anyone else's.
I post prayer updates about different countries. Part of the reason is to raise awareness about what's going on in the rest of the world.
Recently I’ve started a personal initiative; if I notice someone on DA is from another country, if I've done their country I let them know. It’s my way of letting them know that others are thinking about their home.

For the very few who may not have heard the Philippines(an island nation consisting
of over 7000 islands) was recently ravaged by the Haiyan Typhoon.
Haiyan has become unofficially the strongest recorded tropical cyclone
to make landfall, with wind speeds up to 195 mph.
The typhoon devastated Samar Island and Leyte.
It is estimated that at least 10,000 people may have died in the city of Tacloban alone.
About 11 million people have been affected.
Countless are missing or dying
Many have been left homeless.
Only days after the typhoon, a 4.8 earthquake struck the island of Bohol.
The provinces of Aklan, Capiz, Cebu, Iloilo, Leyte, Palawan, and Samar
have been placed under a state of national calamity
Widespread looting has taken place in Tacloban.
The president has considered declaring martial law in hopes of restoring
order in affected areas.
Please, please pray for all of those who have suffered.
Please pray for those who have lost friends and family.
